Metrolinx 5-Year Capital Plan

Metrolinx is recommending two major rapid transit projects for immediate construction funding beginning in 2009/10.

As part of its 5-year, $7 billion Capital Plan, Metrolinx is proposing construction funding to achieve groundbreaking on the Sheppard East Light Rail Transit (LRT) and York Region’s VIVA rapid transit projects in 2009.

Metrolinx is also recommending additional funding to undertake the preliminary planning, design and engineering work required to bring other major rapid transit projects identified in its Regional Transportation Plan: The Big Move closer to construction as soon as possible.
